HOUSTON – Pakistani community celebrated Eid-al-Fitr in Houston on May 13, Thursday at the Consul General Pakistan in Houston Abrar Hashmi’s residence. They were joined in the festivities with the well-known philanthropist and community leader Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry.
Muslims across the United States celebrated Eid al-Fitr with masks and prayers, as conflicts and coronavirus restrictions cast shadows over the festival. In Gaza the usual excitement of Eid turned to mourning for many after a heavy night of Israeli air strikes during the fiercest flare-up in years.
Philanthropist and community leader Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry greeted the nation as well as Muslims around the world on Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed that the day brings plenty of pleasures and joys for all. Also, in his message he greeted the nation on the festival and thanked Allah for blessing with the holy month of Ramazan.
He said, “The objective of making the believers pass through the exercise of patience and thankfulness is to realize others’ sufferings and hunger as the compassion towards others is the real strength and identity of a human society.”
He further stated that “Last year we followed some strict protocols as a result this year we are blessed in the US to get together. We are happy about Eid but there is also heartbreak because of great destruction in the Muslim world. It should be an invitation for all my Muslims brothers to stand in solidarity with Palestine.”
Within the community Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry has always made headlines for his charitable donations to various nonprofits and for his tireless community services providing support to overseas Pakistanis.
On this auspicious day Pakistani Consul General in Houston Abrar Hashmi has also played an important role to organize this special Eid Milan gathering. Beautiful décor, community dressed in colorful Pakistani clothes and delicious desi food made this community gathering joyous.
