Islamabad, March: Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the closure of the narcotics control ministry office, merging its operations into the interior ministry to streamline operations and save resources. The move aims to eliminate unnecessary burdens on the national exchequer, as reported by ARY News.
Interior Minister Naqvi, also the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, shared the decision in a post on X. During a visit to the Ministry of Anti-Narcotics, he stated that his office in the Interior Ministry is sufficient, and maintaining offices in two ministries is wasteful. He emphasized reallocating the Minister’s Office manpower to other necessary areas within the Ministry.
Naqvi received a special briefing on the ministry’s affairs and highlighted the importance of drug eradication for securing future generations. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilizing all resources to combat drug abuse.
By integrating the narcotics control ministry office into the interior ministry, the government aims to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, contributing to the overall improvement of the country’s anti-narcotics efforts.
