Karachi : Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the 35th National Games in a colorful ceremony held in Karachi, while top Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem lit the torch.
Before the official start of the National Games was announced, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim arrived at the stadium carrying the Games torch, which passed through Sameer Hussain, Naseem Hameed, Saadi Abbas and Islahuddin to Arshad Nadeem, who then walked around the ground and lit the National Games torch.
After lighting the torch, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari officially announced the start of the games. These National Games will continue at various venues in Karachi until December 13.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the National Games, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Karachi is hosting the National Games after 18 years.
He said, “I welcome you all to Karachi. Congratulations to everyone on successfully hosting the National Games, providing a positive environment for the youth.”

The ceremony was attended by special guest Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sports Minister and President Sindh Olympic Association Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehar, President Pakistan Olympic Association Chaudhry Arif Saeed and others.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that today the beauty of all the provinces and regions of Pakistan is reflected. This is our mega event. I welcome all the players from all over Pakistan. Surely, all of you must have worked hard to reach this point. This is a matter of pride not only for the Sindh government but also for all the people of the province.

He said that the National Games are starting in Karachi after a long gap of two decades. In this regard, 32 sports competitions are being held at 24 locations across Karachi, in which more than 10,000 players are participating.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that I am deeply grateful to Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who honored us by accepting our invitation as a special guest. The presence of the Chairman is a clear proof of his love for the youth of Pakistan. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wants to see every youth of Pakistan emerge and become independent.

After the official start of the games, the first gold medal of the National Games 2025 went to Lieutenant Misbah of the Pakistan Army, who won the gold medal in the 50-meter single rifle event.
Pakistan Army took the lead in shooting by winning 4 gold medals.
