Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a high-level meeting with Jiang Zedong at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Friday, focusing on counterterrorism cooperation, regional security, and the protection of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

It was a privilege to speak at the Rotary Forum on the Future of International Organizations at UNESCO in Paris. More than 750 participants from 35 countries gathered to discuss today’s most pressing issues.

The meeting, held in the Diplomatic Enclave of Islamabad, underscored the growing importance of security collaboration between Pakistan and China amid ongoing regional challenges.

During the discussions, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens who are actively involved in development and investment projects across Pakistan. Both sides reviewed the overall regional security situation and explored measures to enhance stability for ongoing and future economic initiatives.

A key proposal emerging from the meeting was the organization of a two-phase business conference aimed at addressing investor security concerns. In the first phase, Pakistani authorities will engage with Chinese companies already operating in the country, while the second phase will focus on attracting and reassuring prospective Chinese investors interested in entering the Pakistani market.

To further strengthen protective measures, the government is in the process of establishing a dedicated security unit specifically tasked with safeguarding Chinese nationals, especially in Islamabad. Officials said the unit will receive specialized training, including basic Chinese language skills, to improve coordination and communication.

Naqvi highlighted that the initiative would serve as a model framework for the protection of foreign nationals and help reinforce investor confidence, which remains crucial for economic growth and bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Jiang Zedong welcomed the steps taken by Pakistan, reaffirming China’s support for enhanced collaboration in both security and economic domains. He stressed that continued coordination between the two countries is essential for ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens and sustaining long-term partnership projects.

The meeting reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to secure foreign investment and deepen its strategic relationship with China amid evolving regional dynamics.
