Pakistan border strikes have reportedly killed 26 terrorists along areas bordering Afghanistan, according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar. The operation came after a series of recent militant attacks targeting security personnel inside Pakistan.

The development matters because security concerns have intensified in recent weeks. Moreover, officials say the operation reflects Pakistan’s continued counterterrorism efforts under the national security framework known as Azm-i-Istehkam.

Attaullah Tarar on Pakistan Border Strikes

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated on Wednesday that security forces carried out precise and calibrated strikes against terrorist hideouts near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

According to his statement on X, the operation targeted individuals described by the government as members of Fitna-al-Khawarij. He stated that the strikes were based on credible intelligence and focused on specific locations linked to militant planning and operations.

Tarar said the action resulted in the deaths of 26 militants. He also stated that the operation targeted camps and safe havens allegedly involved in cross-border terrorism.

Pakistan Border Strikes Target Four Locations

According to Tarar, security forces destroyed four targets during the operation. These reportedly included a training center, a hideout, an ammunition cache, and operational centers linked to militant commanders.

He stated that facilities associated with Commander Aleem Khan Khushali and Commander Akhtar Muhammad Jani Khel were among the locations targeted.

Furthermore, officials said the strikes were conducted with precision. However, authorities have not released independent verification regarding the reported casualties.

Federal Constabulary Attack Raises Security Concerns

The operation followed several recent attacks on Pakistani security forces. On Tuesday, militants reportedly attacked a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara, Peshawar.

Officials said six personnel were killed and four were injured while resisting an attempt to seize the post. Security forces reportedly responded and killed eight attackers during the exchange.

In addition, sources said three personnel were abducted during the incident. The attack highlighted continuing security challenges in border regions.

North Waziristan and Bannu Incidents

Tarar also referred to a vehicle-borne suicide attack on a military post in North Waziristan on June 2. Authorities said security forces foiled the attack before militants could achieve their objective.

Earlier, a suicide attack in Bannu reportedly claimed the lives of 15 police personnel. Another attack targeted the Fateh Khel police post, where two officers were killed after law enforcement personnel prevented a larger assault.

As a result, Pakistan intensified diplomatic engagement regarding cross-border security concerns.

Afghanistan and Pakistan Security Tensions

Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghanistan’s Taliban administration to dismantle militant sanctuaries allegedly operating from Afghan territory. Officials maintain that these groups continue to pose threats to Pakistan’s security.

However, Afghan Taliban officials have denied those allegations. They have stated that militancy inside Pakistan remains an internal issue rather than a cross-border problem.

Meanwhile, diplomatic tensions have continued despite periodic efforts to improve relations between the two neighboring countries.

China Mediates Pakistan-Afghanistan Dialogue

China has been working to facilitate dialogue between Islamabad and Kabul. Earlier this year, representatives from both countries met in Urumqi, Xinjiang, as part of efforts to reduce tensions.

According to people familiar with the discussions, Beijing plans to host additional meetings. These talks aim to maintain communication channels and encourage cooperation on regional security matters.

Although hostilities had eased following the initial meeting, the latest Pakistan border strikes indicate that security concerns remain unresolved.

Pakistan Border Strikes Remain Part of Counterterrorism Strategy

Pakistan border strikes represent the latest phase of the country’s broader counterterrorism campaign. Officials say operations will continue against groups involved in attacks on civilians and security personnel.

Tarar stated that Pakistan remains committed to regional stability. At the same time, he emphasized that protecting citizens remains a top priority.

The situation continues to evolve. Therefore, attention will remain focused on security developments, diplomatic engagement, and counterterrorism efforts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
