Karachi Pakistan : On November 9, 2023, Pakistan Bonsai Society organized the 26 th annual
Bonsai Exhibition at Zamzama Park in Karachi. Around 200 locally obtained
plant species, ranging in age from 15 to 63 years including different varieties
of Ficus, Bougainvillea, Clerodendrum Hetrophyllum, Tamarind, Manilkara
Hexandra, Adenium Obesum,and Palusa were on display. Entrance to the
exhibition is free to the public from November 10 to November 12, 2023
between 4 pm and 10 pm.
Bonsai is a traditional Japanese art of growing artistically shaped miniature
trees in the containers. Bonsai trees are grown with unique techniques and
profound insight for the nature. In 1998, a group of Bonsai lovers established
“Pakistan Bonsai Society”. Since then, the organization has been conducting
various activities all over Pakistan. Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony,
Consul-General of Japan, Mr. ODAGIRI Toshio, congratulated Pakistan Bonsai
Society for successfully organizing Bonsai Exhibition and appreciated their
efforts in promoting Bonsai art in Pakistan. Mr. ODAGIRI hoped that the
Bonsai Exhibition will contribute in deepening cultural understanding and ties
between Japan and Pakistan.
