KARACHI: Pakistan LPG Marketers Association (PLPGMA) Vice Chairman Muhammad Ali Haider has said that Pakistan and Iran can increase the trade between the two countries by allowing transportation, but due to the lack of transportation on long-distance routes trade is decreasing. He was having a special conversation with the Minister of Energy and Export Majid Mahdi Hantoush, who was part of the delegation of Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who was visiting Pakistan at a local hotel.
Muhammad Ali Haider said that LPG demand is increasing in Pakistan to meet its energy needs, Pakistan is a big importer of LPG from Iran. Both countries should try to remove obstacles in all sectors including transport. Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries, trade between the two countries will bring prosperity to the people along with a strong and stable economy. Compared to other countries, the sea and land routes between Pakistan and Iran are less and both countries should take advantage of this.
On this occasion, the Minister of Iran assured Muhammad Ali Haider that by trying to include this important issue in the Batter Agreement, the bilateral agreement can be implemented soon. He said that the trucks of both countries should be allowed to come and go into each other’s country so that the monopoly of transporters can end. The Iranian government will play a key role to bring down the LPG rate. To increase the trade between the two countries, the commerce and trade industry should pay immediate attention. The Iranian government will take such measures, which will frustrate the monopolistic transporters.
In the ceremony, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between the two countries. A large number of people including; the Governor of Sindh and the business community participated.
