ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) on Thursday awarded seventeen female entrepreneurs for their spectacular performance in a wide range of business categories.
The awards were given in the first ever ceremony of Khadija Awards 2019 which was attended by more than one hundred and fifty businesswomen from all across the country.
Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women Kashmala Tariq diplomats, representatives of various chambers and trade associations and sitting as well as former vice presidents of FPCCI were also present at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Kashmala Tariq, VP of FPCCI Shereen Arshad Khan, former VP FPCCI Zafar Bakhtwari, and others said that the role of women carries great significance in the development of a society.
We have to give women confidence so that they could play their role in the national development as many of them have redefined power by building their own successful businesses against all odds, they said.
The speakers noted that women have become an integral and invaluable part of the businesses and they are transforming the economy with their exceptional skills, talent, and hard work but they are not getting enough attention.
Businesswomen are facing many pressing issues with getting finance on the top of it which should be considered by the authorities, they observed.
The speakers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs with a special focus on start-ups.
The trade leaders lauded founder president IWCCI Samina Fazil for holding first-ever Khadija Awards 2019 and offered all out cooperation for the event which will be held annually.
Those who received awards included Shamiyal Hameed, Ayesha Khan, Ms. Ravia, Mussarat Jabeen, Areefa A. Taimur, Dania Khan, Saman Majeed, Munawar Sultana, Shaista Jan, Mumtaz Akhter, Shahida Mazhar, Tehmina A Chaudhry, Neelum Nayab, Neelofer Kazmi, Naima Ansari, and Farida Rashid.
