KARACHI – The NED University of Engineering & Technology has announced to institute the Pakistan Stem Awards to formally recognize for the first time the excellence shown by the distinguished individuals and organizations from across the country in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem).
The NED University will hold the Pakistan Stern Awards, the first of its kind awards in the country, in the current year 2021 that is also the centennial year of its foundation.
The announcement to this effect was formally made as the NED University signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) to formally institute the awards.
After signing the MoU, the NFEH has formally joined hands with the NED University to conduct the awards’ event.
NFEH President Naeem Qureshi and Registrar of the NED University, Ghazanfar Hussain, both signed the MoU.
The awards are instituted for content developers, regulators, schools, teachers, students, assessment bodies, parents, after school experience providers, higher education institutes, industries, businesses, organisations, media, government bodies, employers related to the domain of Stem.
Vice-Chancellor of the NED University, Prof Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi; Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the university, Prof Dr Saeed Ahmed Qazi, NFEH Vice-President Engr. Nadeem Ashraf witnessed the MoU signing ceremony.
Prof Dr Lodi said on the occasion that the NED University being the most prestigious institution of higher education in the fields of engineering, science, and technology had felt its obligation to formally recognize and reward the best work being done in the country in the domain of Stem.
He said the individuals and institutions showing excellence in imparting education, doing research work and innovation, and practical application of the field of Stem, were all invited to actively participate in the awards.
He hoped that the Stem awards would encourage more and more organisations and individuals to do the hard work and excel in imparting education, doing research work, and innovation in the field of Stem.
He said that advancement in the field of Stem would ensure that Pakistan is genuinely counted among the modern and progressive nations around the world.
NFEH President Naeem Qureshi said that another major aim of the MoU is to supplement the efforts of the NED University to become Pakistan’s first carbon-neutral campus.
He said the MoU was also aimed at motivating the industries and businesses to actively serve in the field of corporate social responsibility.
