Remember the quirky track Chaila Kya Surat Thi from cult classic Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.? The character who inspired that song in the film was played by actor Vishal Thakkar. According to a report in Indian Express, it’s been three years since Vishal is missing and the Police is unable to find his whereabouts. According to the report, on December 31, 2015, Vishal borrowed Rs 500 from his mother Durga to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he had also asked her to join him for the film which she denied. Later that night around 1 am, he had texted his father, who is a businessman “I am going to a party. See you tomorrow.” And it’s been three years since they heard from him.
According to his mother, he would’ve been 33 now. She said, “I have no clue what happened to my son”. According to the Police, Vishal, who lived in Mulund with his parents, was last seen at Godbunder Road, Thane with his girlfriend on January 1, 2016, around 11:45 am as he was on his way to Andheri for a shoot. His last Facebook post was “Happy New Year”, which was posted at 12:10 pm.
Post that his phone was switched off and hasn’t been switched on since then. There wasn’t any ransom call and there was no activity in his bank account. “Initially, we suspected the girlfriend. But her statement had no discrepancies,” said former investigating officer Mahendra Puri.
Inspector N A Kulkarni, who investigated the case later, had said, “We don’t know if it’s a murder or a kidnapping, or he has run away.” The report also suggested that Vishal had his run-in with trouble when in October 2015, his previous girlfriend had filed a rape and assault charge against him. Talking about the case, Vishal’s mother said, “She frequented our house. One day they were together and the next day, she landed at my door with the police. It was a minor fight. Later, the two of them resolved it.”
His girlfriend had later withdrawn the case against him. According to Police, Vishal’s acting career had gone downhill after the case. “No trace yet,” Police had said a few months ago when asked about the update on Vishal.
