KARACHI – Pakistani religious scholar, Muballigh-e-Islam Allama Muhammad Shams ur Rehman Siddiqui, who passed away this week, was laid to rest in Karachi on Thursday evening. His funeral prayer was performed under the leadership of his younger son Mulana Muhammad Rehan u Mustafa, a large number of scholars, political leaders, social leaders, and students participated in the funeral prayer.
After the funeral prayers, the deceased was buried in the graveyard adjacent to Korangi alongside his father and mother.
It should be noted that on the night of 22 March 2023, Muballigh-e-Islam Allama Muhammad Shams ur Rehman Siddiqui died at the age of 68 years.
Allama Muhammad Shams ur Rehman Siddiqui had balanced thoughts and ideas and he presented the true image of Islam to the world through his writings and sermons, always maintaining the correct stance on modern jurisprudential issues.
He gained global popularity for his services towards the promotion of truth, promoter of interfaith and inter-sect harmony, in the fields of religion, and education, particularly the promotion of religious education, notable Islamic and humanity work in Pakistan and around the world. Not only was he responsible for reviving many of Islam’s Sunnah practices, but he also preached their importance within the Ummah.
According to his personal profile he has established various religious, social, and charity organisations. He was Patron-in-Chief Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) and Albaraka Welfare Trust International, he emphasises service to humanity on the basis of sincerity. Although he himself has moved to the suburbs of Karachi, He was a man that gave back to the Muslim community in the form of “blessings”. Knowing his tremendous influence on Muslims, it was no secret that the news of his death caused shockwaves throughout the Ummah.
He had rendered valuable services in the fields of theology, Hadith, and Tafsir, apart from being the author of more than 15 books, Qur’an commentator, and jurist.
Allama Muhammad Shams ur Rehman Siddiqui’s work went beyond just the borders of Pakistan. Throughout his lifetime, he toured other countries such as the UK, and Europe where he delivered sermons and educational speeches in order to help benefit those who came to see him.
Soon after the news of the death broke, condolences and tributes started pouring in from people from all walks of life.
