KARACHI, Feb 27 : Ms. Sadia Rashid, President of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan (HFP), in her message on 10 Ramazan, Youm-e-Babul-Islam, said that this day holds great significance in the history of the subcontinent. On this day, a young, brave and wise commander, Muhammad bin Qasim, entered the land of Sindh and introduced the region to the golden Islamic teachings, civilisation and culture. The battle fought on 10 Ramazan became a decisive moment between truth and falsehood. The Muslim forces achieved a historic victory and began a new era of peace and prosperity in the region.
Today, enemies use various tactics to weaken the process of nation-building and to undermine national unity. In such circumstances, we must once again understand and adopt the spirit and message of the “Youm-e-Babul-Islam” movement. Shaheed-e-Pakistan, Hakim Mohammed Said, initiated this movement to raise the nation above linguistic, regional and ethnic prejudices and to make the service and progress of Pakistan our collective mission.
The establishment of Madinat al-Hikmah (City of Knowledge and Wisdom) symbolises this historical awareness. Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said built this city at a site where the Islamic forces led by Muhammad bin Qasim first camped in Sindh. Many historians acknowledge this association. For this reason, educational institutions affiliated with HFP observe Youm-e-Babul-Islam every year with special ceremonies.
We must introduce the new generation to Muhammad bin Qasim, as this remains a pressing need of our time. He embodied determination and steadfastness. He upheld justice and bravery. He demonstrated strong character and noble conduct as a commander. Through wisdom, sound judgement and tolerance, he won the hearts of the local population. He presented the true spirit of Islam through his actions and personal example.
His arrival did not merely represent a military victory. It laid the foundation of Islamic civilisational continuity in the subcontinent, which ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan. Therefore, the younger generation should observe this day not only as a remembrance but also as a renewal of commitment to serve the country. They should learn the values of unity, justice, public service and national harmony from the life and character of Muhammad bin Qasim.
May Almighty Allah bless our beloved Pakistan with peace, stability and prosperity. May Allah protect our armed forces and all those who protect the borders and engaged in defence of the country. Ameen
