September 28, 2021: Ms. Maryyam Qasim Khan has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson, Handicraft Association of Pakistan (HAP). This was announced in the Annual General Meeting of the Association held on 28th September 2021.
According to the announcement, Ms Maryyam Qasim Khan has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson HAP with Alia Munawar Khan and Rana Muhammad Jahangir as Senior Vice Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Association respectively. They have been elected new office bearers for the year 2021-2022.
According to the Election Commission no other candidate had filed nomination papers except these three, therefore they have been declared elected unopposed.
Meanwhile, the general body of HAP endorsed the election of the new office bearers and Executive Committee who were elected unopposed due to not filing nomination papers against them.
Those who were elected unopposed in the Executive Committee included Rana Muhammad Jahangir, Malik Moshin Khalid, Ayesha Farooqui, Tasneem Muzrtaza, Deedar Mehgal, Syeda Shahida Shah and Ali Hussam Ashgar.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Maryyam Qasim Khan, newly elected Chairperson resolved to work for the betterment of artisan. She emphasized that the Association will be completely restructured bringing in new technology and also highlighted that man and women will be trained to do businesses online which is now a necessity after the COVID19 Pandemic.
