BRITAIN : More than 300 graves have been discovered in one of the largest Roman cemeteries in Britain. Evidence of the remains of an ancient Roman cemetery was uncovered during excavations for the construction of a 33-kilometer-long road in the British region of Cumbria. Archaeologists began work in 2025 ahead of the widening of the A66 road between Penrith and Scotch Corner. Although experts had known about the area’s connection to ancient Rome since the 1960s, they had never had the opportunity to excavate the site.
