Marvel unveils Ghost Rider with Ryan Gosling as Black Panther 3 introduces a new T’Challa
Marvel Studios thrilled fans at San Diego Comic-Con with major announcements, including Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider, the first look at Avengers: Doomsday and a new chapter for the Black Panther franchise.

SAN DIEGO: Marvel Studios returned to San Diego Comic-Con with a series of major announcements, revealing new films, surprise casting and exclusive footage from its upcoming superhero slate.
The studio confirmed that Black Panther 3 will arrive in cinemas on December 15, 2028, while Ghost Rider, starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, is also scheduled for release in 2028.
Ryan Gosling joins Marvel as Ghost Rider
Ryan Gosling made a surprise appearance during Marvel’s Hall H presentation, confirming his long-rumoured role as Ghost Rider.
“Is this really happening?” Gosling asked as fans welcomed him to the stage.
He praised director Shawn Levy, saying there was only one filmmaker he wanted for the project.
Levy, who directed Deadpool & Wolverine, joined Gosling on stage and told fans they would see the film in 2028.

Black Panther 3 introduces a new T’Challa
Marvel also announced that David Jonsson will play the new T’Challa, the son of the late King T’Challa portrayed by Chadwick Boseman.
Director Ryan Coogler appeared alongside returning cast members Letitia Wright and Winston Duke to discuss the next chapter of the Black Panther franchise.
Jonsson said he felt honoured to take on the iconic role and preferred to let his performance speak for itself.
Avengers: Doomsday footage excites fans
Marvel screened exclusive footage from Avengers: Doomsday, the studio’s next major film following Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The teaser showed Doctor Doom overpowering the Avengers and commanding an army of giant Sentinels, the mutant-hunting robots from Marvel’s X-Men comics.
Star-studded Hall H presentation
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige led the presentation with directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.
The panel featured Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, James Marsden, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Letitia Wright, Hayley Atwell and several other Marvel stars.
Hayley Atwell confirmed she will return as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday.
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. entertained fans by appearing in character as Victor von Doom and encouraged the audience to wear Doctor Doom masks and cloaks distributed during the event.
Marvel sets up blockbuster releases
Marvel confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will open on December 18, the same day as Warner Bros.’ Dune 3, creating one of Hollywood’s biggest box-office clashes.
The studio also announced that Avengers: Secret Wars will follow in December 2027.
Looking ahead, Marvel will showcase more projects at Disney’s D23 Expo, scheduled to take place in Anaheim, California, from August 14 to August 16, 2026.
Marvel remains the highest-grossing film franchise in history, with global box-office earnings approaching $33 billion.
