The 23rd martyrdom anniversary of Kargil War Hero, Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider is being observed on Tuesday.
The prayer ceremony in this regard was held on the grave of the Kargil war hero in Swabi this morning.
A floral wreath was placed on the grave of Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed from Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Higher officials of Pakistan Army attended the ceremony.
Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider was born in district Swabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1970.
During the Kargil conflict on the Line of Control in 1999, he emerged as the symbol of courage.
He was martyred on this day in 1999 galantly defending the motherland and was decorated with country`s highest galantery award, Nishan-e-Haider.
In their separate messages on the occasion, President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tributes to the valiance and bravery of Captain Colonel Sher Khan.
The President said the whole nation is indebted to the sacrifices of martyrs. He said his sacrifices will always be remembered.
The Prime Minister said the mountains of Kargil may not have seen such an act of valour when he led his troops to clear a vital position as the enemy bullets rained.
