Lahore: Currently, the people of Lahore are preparing for another round of severe weather patterns as the city awaits another monsoon session starting today. While partly cloudy conditions provide some degree of respite, Lahore continues to bask in extremely hot conditions and the heat of the sun further exacerbates the situation. The monsoon rains come as a welcome break from the scorching heat but until the first drops fall the humidity remains high.
Adding to the problems of the city, Lahore suffers from frequent and unscheduled load shedding which only makes the problems of the people living there even worse. Some of the affected areas include China Scheme, Sabzazar, Federal Colony, Green Town, and others, and electricity breakdowns give additional discomfort due to the ongoing heatwave.
As for Karachi, the monsoon season has begun early with moderate showers here and there in the past couple of days. Although the area has had some rainfall today, Karachi still has hot and humid climate with temperatures going up to 37 degrees Celsius today. The Met Department has proved the possibility of more rain today and it was also raining in Surjani Town recently.
Moving forward, Karachi is expecting a break from scorching hot weather with the next major monsoon rains after July 20. For now, the residents of the city are urged to drink lots of water and protect themselves from the constant heat.
Two of Pakistan’s largest cities, Lahore and Karachi, experience severe fluctuation in terms of climatic conditions; from hot summers to monsoon season. While the authorities and citizens continue to monitor the situation, there is hope for the next rains to arrive and lessen the pressure stemming from the harsh weather circumstances.
