Karachi Pakistan : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam assured the CPNE delegation in a special meeting that the dues of Rs 1.4 billion for newspaper advertisements would be paid in two installments. The delegation consisted of Ijazul Haq (former Secretary General), Ghulam Nabi Chandio (Secretary General) and Tahir Farooq Chairman (CPNE KP). Explaining the payment procedure, he said that Rs 798 million has been settled with the provincial departments, out of which 50 percent will be paid in the first week of March, while the remaining dues, the process of settlement of which is in full swing, will be cleared in the new financial year from July to September. Advisor to the Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muzammil Aslam said that the government is responsible for paying the arrears to the newspapers and this issue has been going on for a long time, which will not be delayed any further. CPNE has filed a writ in the Peshawar High Court to recover the arrears due for years in the form of advertisements. The case has been pending in the High Court for the past 2 years. The apex court has issued a contempt of court notice against the Finance Secretary for non-payment. The next hearing of the case will be held in the Peshawar High Court on February 23.
