Unidentified motorcycle riders launched a petrol bomb attack on a KFC outlet near Akbar Chowk in Lahore’s Township area, setting the entrance ablaze. According to police, the assailants threw petrol-filled bottles at the restaurant, sparking a sudden fire.
CCTV footage of the incident has been secured to assist with the investigation. A police officer present at the scene fired warning shots in an effort to stop the attackers, but they managed to flee.
Authorities are currently reviewing the footage and remain optimistic about identifying and arresting the suspects soon.
This attack follows a deadly incident just a day earlier in Sheikhupura, where a KFC employee was reportedly killed during an assault on another branch. That attack was linked to protesters affiliated with a radical Islamist group during an anti-Israel demonstration.
The back-to-back incidents have raised alarms about the safety of global franchises operating in the region amidst escalating unrest.
