In a bid to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, the Kashmir Day was commemorated by the Kashmir Student Society, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur at Students Societies Centre. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences presided the event. The Declamation Contest was held and a solidarity rally was also taken out to express the solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari said this day is being commemorated on the directives of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor. He said that the continuous repressive and aggressive policies and atrocities committed by the Indian Forces has created extensive difficulties in the Occupy Kashmir. He said the plight of Kashmiri people is miserable. Pakistan Government has pleaded this case on different international forums i.e. United Nations, O.I.C, SAARC to end the hostile attitude of so called Indian government. He lamented that siege and surge operation is continue in the occupied valley. Dr. Lashari appreciated the role of civil and military leadership for highlighting the Kashmir case on diplomatic and political fronts globally. The stance of Government of Pakistan is that this issue shall be resolved through composite dialogue in peaceful manner.
Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies highlighted in his address the core issue of Kashmir and its genuineness. He said it is long struggle of Kashmiri people. The United Nations under the influence of great powers has not yet resolved the Kashmir issue.
Ms. Shahida Amir Chandio, Incharge Department of Political Science shed light on the human rights abuses committed by the Indian Forces in the Occupied Valley. She said the right of self determination of Kashmiri people is universal and fundamental right but the India has denied.
The Declamation Contest on the theme :The Right of Self Determination and the Role of Government of Pakistan in Highlighting the Kashmir Case at various International Forums” was also held. Mr. Aftab Ahmed, Mr. Waqar Ahmed, Mr. Asad Abbas, Mr. Asif Abro and Mr. Deep Rajput delivered their speeches on the theme. They said that the Government of Pakistan has rightly pleaded the case of Kashmiri people in international forums vocally but the hegemonic design of India in the region has denied their right of self determination. They stressed the need that world community may come forward to resolve this issue in a way of pacific settlement.
Mr. Asad Abbas, Mr. Aftab Ali and Mr. Deep Rajput secured first, second and third position respectively. Mr. Asif Abro got special prize. Dr. Ali Raza Lashari conducted the proceedings of the events.
A Solidarity Rally was also taken out in the campus premises. The participants chanted the slogans in the favor of right of self determination of Kashmiri people. A large number of teachers and students attended the events.
