Karachi Pakistan : In an inspiring initiative, the Karachi Police Headquarters hosted its first-ever Health Mela to promote health awareness and well-being among the families of police personnel. Organized by Dr. Syed Naveed Manzoor, President-Elect of Rotary Club of Karachi Pearl and CEO of Bites & Braces Dental, the event was supported by Rotary International District 3271 under the leadership of District Governor Muhammad Rizwan Adhia. With the endorsement of Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho, the Health Mela welcomed over 3,200 attendees, delivering vital health education and fostering a lively community atmosphere.

The dental health camp, led by Bites & Braces Dental, distributed more than 1,500 toothbrushes worth Rs. 85,000 and taught children proper oral hygiene techniques. The general health camp educated families on hygiene practices, including nail care, lice prevention, and disease protection. At the women’s health camp, Dr. Farhat distributed over 1,000 hygiene pads sponsored by Neetex and emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene. Dr. Naima, CEO of Kumak – The Journey to Wellness, conducted stress management sessions, helping over 2,000 participants embrace self-care and mental well-being.
Significant public health efforts were undertaken, with over 100 infants receiving polio drops. Dr. Essa Laboratory offered free bone density tests to hundreds of participants and provided discounts on further diagnostics. Yoga specialist Umme Hani led breathing exercises to promote physical and mental wellness, while Rotary Club of Karachi Elite distributed coloring books and pencils worth Rs. 100,000, delighting children and fostering creativity.
Students and faculty from ILMA University played a pivotal role in the event, volunteering their time to assist at various stalls and providing facilitation to both the organizers and the general public. Their active participation ensured smooth operations, enhanced the event’s outreach, and contributed to its overall success.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, Shahi Foods and Kernelpop provided snacks and treats, including candy floss and Fry-O snacks, which were a hit with children. Entertainment activities such as face painting, token rides, and a jumping castle, alongside beloved mascots like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, kept young attendees engaged and joyful throughout the day.

The event began at 2 p.m., with families arriving in large numbers as word spread about the initiative. AIG Javed Alam Odho, Chief Guest, visited the camps alongside SSP Imran Shaukat, SP Ayub Bhurgari, and other senior officers. Notable guests of honor included Ghulam Yaseen (Sindh Government), Haseeb Khan (Human Rights & Social Reforms Sindh), Mouiz Khan (Japanese Consulate), Waliullah Khan (SME Foundation), Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan (Country Head, Salman Foods), and Durdaana Arshad.
Healthy Lifestyle Awards and volunteer certificates were presented to honor the dedication of organizers, volunteers, and partners, including Rotary International District 3271, ILMA University, Kumak, Shahi Foods, Kernelpop, Dr. Essa Laboratory, and others. The event distributed over Rs. 500,000 worth of products and services, highlighting the community’s commitment to promoting health and happiness.
As the Health Mela concluded around 9 p.m., organizers expressed gratitude for the anonymous supporters and vowed to continue similar initiatives across Karachi. The success of this event underscores the importance of community-driven efforts to improve health and well-being.
