Karachi: K-Electric has launched the bidding process for its significant solar energy projects, set to double Pakistan’s solar power capacity. The bidding for the initial projects will be completed by next month. These initiatives aim to greatly increase the country’s renewable energy production.
According to Bloomberg, K-Electric is seeking proposals for a hybrid solar and wind energy project. The expansion in solar capacity is expected to reduce overall electricity costs. Over the next five years, K-Electric plans to add 1,200 megawatts of power to its system.
The company is focusing on generating cheaper electricity to replace costly fuels like furnace oil and imported LNG. This shift is part of K-Electric’s ongoing efforts to enhance energy affordability and sustainability in Pakistan.
