Islamabad :The president of the Islamabad Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI),
Samina Fazil, stated Thursday that businesswomen are very pleased with the stabilization
of the economy because the country is moving in the right direction.
She said that we have high expectations for Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal
Khan, who is making every effort to encourage commercial ventures and strengthen the
economy.
After thoroughly discussing with Jam Kamal Khan, she addressed the office bearers and
IWCCI members. She said that we have sent the minister recommendations that, if
approved, will greatly benefit the businesswomen and the economy.
Samina Fazil said that we have requested the inclusion of women-owned businesses in
trade delegations and the provision of subsidies to facilitate their business promotion.
She said that IWCCI has also sent a proposal for subsidies to assist women business
owners in attending international trade shows and exhibitions, thereby enhancing their
visibility and prospects globally.
The founder president of IWCCI stressed the significance of incorporating women's
viewpoints in national and international trade policies.
She also called for the representation of women as leaders on the boards of various
organizations, such as the Export Development Fund.
The businesswomen also asked for a follow-up on the budgetary allocation for women
entrepreneurs in the previous fiscal year; additional measures to promote women-led
firms; and the allocation of an amenity plot for the IWCCI building.
She also requested that the government assist IWCCI in hosting the Single Country
Exhibitions in the African Region through the EDF, to foster trade links and provide
women-owned firms with access to markets.
The minister was informed about the issue of pending women's chambers licenses at the
General of Trade Organisations (DGTO) and requested support to strengthen the Women
Exporters Network (WEXNET).
In addition to providing additional recommendations aimed at empowering women
entrepreneurs in Pakistan, she advocated for the official recognition and support of
women's chambers, thereby enabling them to contribute to the country's economic
progress.
She informed the businesswomen that Minister Jam Kamal Khan urged them to select
international exhibitions in which they would like to participate and receive the
government's support.
According to her, the minister assured all out support and pledged to make sure they
attended these gatherings in order to advertise their companies internationally, which will
help them get business.
Samina Fazil said that the minister has promised more efforts to mainstream women in
the economy.
