Islamabad: Mr. Hamid Abbas Lafta, the Iraqi Ambassador to Pakistan, visited the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) headquarters on Friday. He met with PRCS Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari to discuss ways to work together on humanitarian efforts.
Chairman Laghari shared details about PRCS’s important work, especially after the devastating monsoon floods in 2022 that affected millions. He explained how PRCS is helping those in need by providing shelter, support for livelihoods, and clean water services.
Ambassador Lafta praised PRCS for its impactful work during crises and emphasized Iraq’s commitment to humanitarian causes. He also thanked Pakistan for its help during the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing medicines and vaccines.
The Ambassador suggested strengthening ties between PRCS and the Iraq Red Crescent Society. He proposed future visits and potential agreements to cooperate on humanitarian projects. During his visit, he toured the PRCS library and wrote a message in the guest book. Chairman Laghari also presented him with souvenirs, including a book titled “Dastan-e-Azam.”
