International E-Waste Day
hilippines : Each year, millions of electrical and electronic devices are discarded when they break or become outdated. These items, considered e-waste, can pose serious risks to both human health and the environment if not properly disposed of or recycled.
This year’s #EWasteDay highlights the loss of critical raw materials: rare and valuable resources like lithium, cobalt and copper that are vital for green technologies and sustainable industry.
call for governments, industry and individuals to build a world where no device is wasted and every resource is recovered.
Through #UNIDO and partners, our projects in the #Philippines, #LatinAmerica and #EastAfrica demonstrate what is possible when we formalize the informal sector, pilot dismantling facilities, enhance policy frameworks and promote safer working conditions.
These initiatives show that sustainable e-waste management can create jobs, protect health and recover valuable materials.
