KARACHI: A beautiful example of interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence was witnessed at the celebration of Interfaith Easter in Interfaith Ramadan in Governor House. Governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori extended warm Easter greetings to the Christian community as he met with the Vice Moderator, Church Of Pakistan Bishop Kaleem John, Chairman of the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony ({ICPH} and Co-Chair, International Religious Freedom Roundtable for Pakistan {IRF Pakistan Ambassador Imam Allama Imam Ahsan Siddiqui, Archbishop of Karachi Benny Mario Travas, Karachi Diocese Church Of Pakistan Bishop Fredric John, St. Joseph’s College for Women Karachi Principal Sister Dr. Elizabeth Niamat, and Pastor Amjad Farooq. After meeting Governor Sindh and Muslim and Christian faiths leaders visited with the Holy Trinity Church on Fatima Jinnah Road, Karachi, where they participated in the festivities and shared in cutting the Easter cake with Muslim and Christian faiths leaders. Expressing solidarity with minority communities, Governor Kamran Khan emphasized that the doors of Governor House are open to all minority groups in the province.

He reiterated that every minority community residing in the province should partake in moments of joy, stressing the importance of unity among all Pakistanis to address the nation’s challenges collectively. Governor Kamran Khan underscored the significance of mutual respect among people of different faiths and beliefs, emphasizing the need for harmony and cooperation to achieve a prosperous Pakistan.
Addressed on the Interfaith Easter Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui, Chairman of the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony ({ICPH} and Co-Chair, International Religious Freedom Roundtable for Pakistan {IRF Pakistan} said that Ramadan is a month of togetherness, compassion and harmony. All religions preach love, harmony, peace and Pakistani faith leaders are promoting dialogue through their umbrella organization: Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony and International Religious Freedom Roundtable Pakistan. He said that Jesus Christ (A.S.) was ordained by Almighty Allah to preach love, peace, tolerance and brotherhood. Islam gives equal rights to the minorities and our Constitution grants minorities equal participation in all walks of life. He said Easter also reminds us of the teachings of Jesus Christ and his universal message of love, forgiveness, and brotherhood, which can bring harmony and peace to the world. He said that learning about one another’s significant festivals, fasts, and other commemorations throughout the year is another critical window on our faith traditions. Knowing these dates, and wishing one another well in our observance of them can be a very meaningful gesture of interreligious friendship.
Ambassador Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said we take it for granted, but with other countries, when they come here and see how we interact, Muslims go to churches and celebrate Christmas even more than the Christians…. and Christians visit Muslims and enjoy Salah more than the Muslims…they get amazed. That for me is part of the secret to the peace we have in Pakistan. The Co-Chair, International Religious Freedom Roundtable for Pakistan {IRF Pakistan} said that the opportunity to highlight the extraordinary coincidence that Holi, Novroz, Easter, Ramadan, and Passover fell at the same time again this year.
Global Peace and Human Rights Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said that Ramadan is a time to strengthen family bonds and foster unity. Every year ICPH celebrates the holy month of Ramadan and celebrates INTERFAITH RAMADAN”. Together, we break bread, break barriers & build bridges of understanding. On the occasion Interfaith Easter Governor Sindh Kamran Khan with the Ambassador Imam Allama Imam Ahsan Siddiqui, Benny Mario Travas, Bishop Fredric John, Sister Dr. Elizabeth Niamat, and Pastor Amjad Farooq festivities and shared in cutting the Easter cake. Governor Sindh Kamran Khan concluded the event by distributing gifts to members of the Christian community in celebration of Easter.
