KARACHI: Indus Cloud Limited, Indus DC REIT, and United Bank Limited (UBL) have entered into a landmark strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the development of next-generation cloud computing and data center infrastructure across Pakistan, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s digital economy.

The signing ceremony was held at the UBL Head Office in Karachi, where senior executives from all three organizations formalized the agreement to jointly develop the Indus Cloud and Data Center Project. The initiative is designed to establish advanced, Tier-III compliant data center facilities along with scalable cloud services tailored for enterprises and public sector institutions.

Under the agreement, Indus DC REIT will lead the development and operation of purpose-built data center infrastructure, while Indus Cloud Limited will provide a comprehensive cloud services platform. Together, the two entities aim to build a secure, high-performance digital ecosystem that supports data sovereignty, enterprise-grade security, and modern computing needs in Pakistan.

UBL will participate as both a strategic investor and institutional partner. Alongside its financial contribution, the bank intends to utilize the infrastructure to support its own digital transformation strategy and enhance innovation in banking services.

Officials said the partnership reflects a shared vision to accelerate cloud adoption in Pakistan, enabling businesses and institutions to modernize operations, improve resilience, and adopt advanced digital technologies across sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rumman Dar, Chief Investment & Information Officer of Indus Cloud & DC REIT, said the collaboration represents a turning point for Pakistan’s cloud ecosystem, adding that the goal is to build a secure and locally hosted digital backbone for enterprises.

UBL Chief Strategy Officer Farrukh Karim Khan stated that the initiative aligns with the bank’s long-term digital priorities, positioning UBL at the forefront of cloud-enabled banking innovation and infrastructure development.

The partners emphasized that the project will play a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and enabling the country to compete in the rapidly evolving global digital landscape.
