In order to capitalize the maize production and ensure capacity building of Maize farmers, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Agro & Food Division has organised a series of seminars on ” Prevention & Control of Khapra Beetle and Aflatoxin issues in Maize Value Chain” at Wahid Food Valley, Pakpattan & Royal Marquee Sahiwal on 25-07-24 & 26-07-24 respectively where more than 300 progressive and small farmers participated in these sessions.
Farmers were sensitized to take care of Maize production and storage so we may capitalize on 421 million USD of maize exports in 2023-24. The seminar was attended by relevant resource persons from Trade Mission, Vietnam, Agri. Extension (Punjab), Agro pest warning (Punjab) DPP, MMRI, AARI etc to explain int’l standards, local production, storage practices for Maize.
The purpose of these sessions was to bring all the stakeholders under one roof to develop the capacity of Farmers and spread the sensitivity of issues like Aflatoxin and Khapra Beetle present in the Maize supply chain.
