Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed party officials to expel MNA Sher Afzal Marwat from the party. The decision follows complaints from senior PTI members regarding his behavior at a recent rally in Swabi.
PTI leadership has resolved to revoke Marwat’s basic membership, with a formal notification expected soon. Additionally, the party plans to request his resignation from the National Assembly.
Marwat’s removal stems from internal dissatisfaction over his conduct during the Swabi gathering, prompting several party members to raise concerns with Khan. An official announcement on the matter is anticipated in the coming days.
Last month, PTI had issued a show-cause notice to Marwat for violating party discipline. The notice, signed by PTI’s Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, criticized Marwat—known for his fiery speeches—for making statements that contradicted the party’s stance. Until he responded to the notice, he was also barred from representing PTI in media appearances.
