PAKISTAN: Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. On this June 5th significant World Environment Day, our best wishes and congratulations to UNEP on the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day, we celebrate our planet and the importance of environmental protection. Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Human Rights & Interfaith Harmony Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, of the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that we unite with the global community to celebrate and protect our beautiful planet. As the global community is gearing towards the Climate Change COP 28 meeting in Abu Dhabi in November, the faith community has proven over the past years their essential role in driving commitments and actions.
We must take responsibility and urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Religious Leaders continue to undertake the responsibility to transform the behaviour of people by highlighting nature elements mentioned in scriptures, hinged on values to change attitudes to influence action related to natural solutions.
ICPH organises seminar to mark World Environment Day with the objective of raising awareness about environmental issues and their possible solution. Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Human Rights & Interfaith Harmony Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) highlighted the escalating issue of plastic pollution in the country. He said that Pakistan needs demonstrate seriousness on environment. He said that time has come that all institutions should work together and take concrete initiatives to safe environment from pollution, because we are already facing global warming issues. He further said that spiritual values for more than 80% of the people living on earth have been driving individual behaviors. In many countries, spiritual beliefs and religions are the main drivers for cultural values, social inclusion, political engagement, and economic prosperity.
Global Peace Ambassador, Human Rights Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said that World Environment Day is the occasion to look at how gender equality and climate justice are linked. In climate crises, women and girls often face the greatest impacts from environmental degradation and natural disasters. He said that Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) is engaging with faith-based organizations to realize an impact on local communities’ sustainable livelihoods based on common spiritual values. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) and a number of partner organizations have been engaging in a collaborative spirit to prepare for COP 28. UN’s SDGs, Global Goals including climate and environment. UNEP is also trying to help forests and nature, but greater efforts must be made. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
The Chairman ICPH Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said that on the UN Sustainable Development Goals) showcasing inspiring efforts to conserve and protect water. He further said that Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) are actively providing life-saving education and on-the-grouns support to implement WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) practices. ICPH with civil society organization, other religious and spiritual communities are working to protect oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, streams, and glaciers. Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) and planted thousands of plants for smog free Pakistan or clean and green environment to promote sustainable development goals 2030.
Ambassador Imam Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui said that Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) encourages activities that nurture the environment, recycling drives, and clean-up campaigns. (ICPH) working hand in hand with the government, we’re contributing to creating a cleaner, greener and healthier environment. He further said that Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) serves as a reminder that we all have the responsibility to protect and preserve our environment. It is a call for collaboration, innovation, and action to address environmental challenges and create a plastic-free environment.
