Karachi (Report): A strong protest erupted in Umar Colony, Ibrahim Hyderi, against the prolonged and unannounced load-shedding by K-Electric. Residents blocked the main road and set tires on fire, severely disrupting traffic flow in the area.
The protest was led by youth from the informal settlements, including Majid Kachi, Aslam Kachi, Chair Qasim Kachi, and others. Protesters stated that daily power outages lasting 8 to 12 hours have made life unbearable. The situation has led to an acute water shortage and several other issues.
They criticized K-Electric’s irresponsible behavior, especially during Ramadan and the intense summer heat, terming it unacceptable.
The demonstrators demanded that the government and relevant authorities take immediate action to end load-shedding and ensure the provision of basic utilities. They warned that if their demands are not met, the scope of the protest will be expanded further.
