Call it a strange co-incidence but according to Indian media reports, Air Marshal S Varthaman was hired as a consultant for the Tamil film Kaatru Viliyidai, a 2017 Tamil flick about an IAF pilot who gets arrested by Pakistan.

In the film, the main actor is an IAF pilot whose jet gets shot down in Rawalpindi in 1998 during the Kargil war. He is arrested by Pakistan Army who torture him in captivity.
The movie was directed by Mani Ratnam and also starred Aditya Rao Hydari.
Abhinandan Varthaman, a pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF), was arrested after Pakistan army shot down two Indian military planes for violating Pakistani airspace.
Pakistan army also released the video of the captured soldier who introduced himself as Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
In a televised address to the nation, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that two Indian planes were shot down by Pakistan after they entered the country’s airspace.
He urged India to sit and talk on terrorism and other issues instead of escalating the tense situation.
After initial denial, India also confirmed the arrest of IAF pilot Abhinandan.
After the confirmation from Indian External Affairs Ministry, Twitter users in India called for the release of their pilot in Pakistan.
