Karachi : Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain said on Wednesday that the appointment of Ishaq Dar as Foreign Minister by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is a good decision.
He said that Ishaq Dar understands the economy well and that he will start very effective economic diplomacy.
Mian Zahid Hussain said Mr. Dar would prioritize relations with all the countries, including India, and a favorable environment for foreign investment would be created in Pakistan.
Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that Ishaq Dar is a responsible politician who, instead of raising slogans, is committed to working hard and has a good reputation.
He said the country’s image will improve because of the efforts of Ishaq Dar, and economic relations with America, Europe, China, and Arab countries will take on a new dimension.
The business leader said that the endless tension between Pakistan and India will decrease as the focus of PML-N has always remained on economic development and improving relations with neighboring countries, especially India.
Mian Zahid Hussain said Ishaq Dar would follow that policy, unlike some failed politicians who consider increased tensions with India necessary for their popularity.
Some politicians do not miss any opportunity to spoil ties with India and other influential nations, but Ishaq Dara will not do so, he said, adding that he will take matters forward responsibly.
Unnecessary tension from neighboring countries has damaged Pakistan, while other countries have made incredible economic progress, significantly increasing their economic and political power.
Now we have to come out of the past, face reality, and accept that those countries are also avoiding us whose friendship was cherished in the past, and the friendly nations are now looking at the issues from a geo-economic point of view.
Pakistan’s economic importance is not vital for many countries because they are fed up with forwarding loans. Pakistan’s importance now owes only to its being a nuclear power.
None of the leading global investors arriving in India to attend the wedding of business people will ever visit Pakistan. Still, if Pakistan is transformed into an economic powerhouse, all these people will be pleased to do business in Pakistan.
He said there is still time to pay attention to political and economic affairs, discount the past, and transform Pakistan into an economic hub through a successful foreign policy.
