ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to expand its cabinet by inducting 15 to 20 new federal ministers, state ministers, and advisors, according to ARY News sources.
The oath-taking ceremony for the new cabinet members is scheduled for tomorrow at 5 PM at the Aiwan-e-Sadar (President House). However, the final schedule will be confirmed once Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns from his visit to Uzbekistan.
Prominent figures likely to join the cabinet include Hanif Abbasi, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Mustafa Kamal. Others expected to be inducted are Barrister Aqeel, Huzaifa Rehman, Senator Talal Chaudhry, Afzal Khokhar, and Abdul Rehman Kanju. The cabinet expansion comes almost a year after Shehbaz Sharif assumed office.
The new ministers will oversee key ministries, including the Ministry of Railways, National Health, and Communications. The final list of ministers will be announced once the prime minister returns.
This development follows the recent passage of the Members of Parliament Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill 2025, which significantly increased lawmakers’ salaries. The National Assembly’s Finance Committee, led by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, approved a 200% salary hike, raising the monthly salary of MNAs and senators from Rs180,000 to Rs519,000.
