KARACHI: As a celebration, United States Consul General Nicole Theriot hosted an event in Karachi on June 22 to mark the 247th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence. Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Human Rights & Interfaith Harmony Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) has felicitated to US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald A. Blome and Consul General Nicole Theriot, the government and people of 247th Anniversary of the US Independence Day (July 4,1776-2023).
The opening ceremony began with screening anthems from the United States and Pakistan. The guest of honor was Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori. Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui was among the participants with diplomats, Pakistani officials, businesspeople, civil society, celebrities, and friends for a celebration. Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui met US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald A. Blome and Consul General H.E Nicole Theriot.
In his remarks, US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, explained the choice of theme: “The theme for today’s Independence Day celebration is’ ‘ Green Alliance ”. The “Green Alliance” framework which aims to promote climate-smart agriculture and private sector-led growth in Pakistan. We wanted to tell the story of how our two great countries built our nations, our capitols, our embassies, and our relationship. The story brings out parallels, from founding principles of our nations to our respective investments in iconic embassies in each other’s capitals. Which speaks to the value and commitment we place on the relationship between our countries. US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome took the opportunity to also highlight the strong and enduring partnership between the United States and Pakistan. He said the US government is dedicated to expanding the ties between the Pakistani and American people to promote a more stable, secure, and prosperous future for both our nations.
The United States Karachi Consul General Nicole Theriot appreciated the friendship and closeness of Pakistani people and the growing relations between United States and Pakistan in all sectors. She highlighted the longstanding US-Pakistan partnership to advance Pakistan’s economic growth. The people-to-people ties between the United States and Pakistan are among our greatest strengths.
Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui expressed appreciation for US assistance to Pakistan in last year’s devastating floods devastating floods disasters , generating green energy and the US has great partner and supporter in building a climate-resilient, inclusive economy, education, humanitarian, social, health, women empowerment, people-to-people connections, interfaith cooperation, religious tolerance, diversity, economic prosperity, social inclusion and infrastructure development. He also thanked the US government for its assistance in relief and recovery operations after the country was hit by massive floods.
The International Religious Freedom Roundtable for Pakistan Co-Chair Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui is very keen to have peaceful and positive relations between both countries. He said that the Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) reassures its cooperation and support with the United States to the fullest and looks forward to enhancing bilateral engagement between the two countries. The IRF Pakistan and (ICPH) looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with the United States for the achievement of its objectives of interfaith harmony, peace prosperity, expanding and deepening our mutually beneficial relationship in common spiritual values, cultural exchange and social spheres. The Chairman of Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that a considerable number of Pakistanis living in United States who also serve as a strong bridge between our two friendly nations.
During the official ceremony, the U.S. Marine Corps Detachment marched in the flag of the United States. After the formalities, guests took part in traditional ate American foods that Americans normally enjoy as part of their Independence Day celebrations.
