KARACHI – The Honorary Consulate General of Ghana has successfully evacuated a Ghanian national from Afghanistan and he is awaiting repatriation to his country.
Following the Taliban takeover, dozens of countries were in a race against time to evacuate their nationals as well as Afghan nationals.
In this regard, the Honorary Consul General of Ghana Dr Shahid Rasheed Butt, Vice Consul Omar Shahid Butt, and admin officer Ch. Tahir Javed initiated their efforts to safely evacuate Ghanian nationals from Afghanistan.
Mr. Wisdom Etse Afeti, a citizen of Ghana expressed his willingness to come to Pakistan who was safely evacuated while efforts are being made to evacuate two more nationals of Ghana from Afghanistan.
All the arrangements to bring Mr. Wisdom who was working with Afghan Wireless Communication Company were finalized and he was safely transported to Pak-Afghan border Torkhum from where he was transported to a guesthouse in Islamabad.
Now the Consulate is arranging his early and safe passage to Ghana which will be finalized within few days for which Mr. Wisdom has expressed his gratitude.
The two remaining nationals will be brought to Pakistan as soon possible, Vice Consul Omar Shahid Butt said, adding that Pakistani diplomatic staff and authorities have remained very helpful in this regard.
It may be mentioned that the combined effort by different countries has led to more than a hundred thousand people being flown out of the country since 14 August, the day before the Taliban seized control of Kabul.
