Karachi: German Missions in Pakistan celebrated the Unity Day, the 31st anniversary of German reunification. This year is very special for both Pakistan and Germany as we also commemorate the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations, says a release, adding due to the pandemic, once again, the German Missions in Pakistan must sadly refrain from the usual German national day festivities.
Instead, the German Embassy Islamabad and the German Consulate General in Karachi decided to go online on the Embassy’s Facebook page and YouTube channel for a digital celebration with very special guests.
Everyone was cordially invited to join the event.On the occasion, Counsel General of Germany in Karachi Holger Ziegeler said due to the pandemic of coronavirus we are celebrating this event digitally. He said 70 years have already passed of brotherly relations between Pakistan and Germany and we are happy that these relations have further strengthened. He said Pakistani people are friendly and confident.
He said that the German Missions in Pakistan would celebrate German National Day festival. However, Marta Women Football Club sliced a cake in their central secretariat on the occasion of Germany Reunification anniversary.
On the occasion, founder and president of Marta Women Football Club Rais Khan, patron in Chief Tahir Malik, executive committee members Nasir Javed and Sameer Nasir, team players Maria Khan, Anabia Khan, Falak, Mariam Shah, TalihaYaseen and others were also present.
Rais Khan congratulated the German Counsel General and hoped that sports and cultural ties between the two nations would further improve. He said exchange of Pak German football teams would help improving professional abilities of football players.
