Karachi: Former Chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and Chairman of the Rice Standing Committee of FPCCI Rafiq Sulaiman said that this year Pakistan and especially Sindh has produced the best record rice while this year. There is a strong possibility that the annual export will reach three billion dollars for the first time, for which the entire team of REAP including Chairman Chela Ram Kewlani and our leader Abdul Rahim Janu is doing. Get a good price and this dream of farmers is going to be fulfilled this year.
He expressed these views during the luncheon given in honor of the millers of different cities of Sindh. At the event, the President of Lower Sindh Rice Millers Association Farooq Ahmed Chippa, representatives of Hyderabad, Badin, Chauhar Jamali, and Tando Mohammad Khan Rice Millers Association, Well-known exporters Fawad Ghareeb, Aziz Mania, Muhammad Basheer, Ashfaq, Ghaffar, and others were also present. On this occasion, the guests were presented with Ajrak, a Cap, and a shield.
Rafiq Sulaiman said that the rice crop in Barsandh is very good and if the weather is good, the arrival of the best crop in the market will give the farmer a very good price, which he could never get in the past. He said that the price of rice is high. By meeting, farmers will grow more rice than before, while farmers, millers, and exporters will be economically stronger and trade will also increase.
Rafiq Sulaiman said that the rice of Sindh is loved all over the world, while new markets are also beginning to open in Pakistan.
He said that because of the ban on Indian rice, there is a huge demand for Pakistani rice in the world market and Pakistani rice is being sold more expensively than India in the world market. The embargo has been lifted, while Russia has also lifted the embargo on Pakistani rice. Pakistan has had a very good rice harvest this year and will harvest about 5 million tons of rice and rice worth up to $3 billion can be exported from Pakistan.
Rafiq Suleman said that Mexico and Russia used to give us the best price for rice and now we have these markets again, we used to sell rice in Mexico at $570 FOB and now we can sell it at $650 to $700.
He said that There is a shortage of water in Sindh and the rice farmers are facing difficulties. If the suggestions we have given to the Ministry of Commerce are implemented, we can take the export of rice up to 5 billion dollars.
