Lahore, February 3, 2025- In a significant move towards sustainable mobility, foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading food and grocery delivery platform, has officially launched Electric Bikes as part of its delivery fleet. The collaboration is done jointly with the Government of Punjab and Wasl (a non-banking finance company) with a view to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly delivery solutions.

The initiative is designed to enhance EV representation on Pakistan’s leading delivery fleet operator, supporting the Government’s efforts to combat environmental degradation and driving ecological sustainability. By integrating electric bikes into foodpanda’s delivery network, the program aims to significantly reduce reliance on traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, lowering emissions while ensuring cost efficiency for riders.

The Government of Punjab has welcomed this initiative as part of its broader commitment to green transportation. Parliamentary Secretary, Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control, Shehryar Malik commented, “This launch represents a significant step forward in our journey towards a sustainable future. By embracing innovation and adopting electric vehicles, foodpanda is setting a new standard for the delivery industry in Pakistan. The Punjab Government is committed to supporting such initiatives and encouraging a culture of environmental responsibility.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Ahmad Iqbal Chaudhary, Chairperson, Public Accounts Committee stated, “The transition towards electric mobility is vital for sustainable urban development. This initiative by foodpanda is a step in the right direction, proving how public-private partnerships can create a meaningful environmental impact while boosting economic opportunities.”

While sharing his views, Hassan Arshad, Director Policy and Communications foodpanda Pakistan, stated, “This is a key moment in our journey towards sustainability. As the leading delivery fleet operator in Pakistan, we recognize our responsibility in reducing carbon footprints and creating a cleaner, greener future. The adoption of EVs will not only support the government’s environmental goals but also offer long-term economic benefits to our riders.”

foodpanda delivery heroes can now access EV financing through Wasl Investment Finance, an SECP-regulated non-bank finance company (NBFC). Wasl specialises in tech-driven credit solutions for micro and small businesses, including mobility finance.

With foodpanda leading the charge in EV adoption for the delivery sector, this initiative has been designed to revolutionize last-mile logistics in Pakistan. The company remains committed to expanding the EV program further, contributing to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable future for the country.
