Karachi, Pakistan – A fire was observed to have started at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) building in Karachi on Monday and, as per the statements from the rescue officials, the fire has been put out. Thankfully, there are no losses of human lives reported in the event.
It started from the fourth floor of the Ali Habib Trading Company building on I. I. Chundrigar Road, said Hassaan Khan, the Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesman. He further explained that the cooling process for the affected area has already started now.
When the alert was received, Rescue 1122 Central Command & Control mobilized two fire brigade trucks to the scene immediately. Moreover, a snorkel was put into use while as many as six fire brigades were utilized in fighting the fire effectively.
This incident comes as a result of previous issues related to fire safety in the commercial building in Karachi. The Karachi Metro-poli-tan Corporation, in its report submitted to the Sindh High Court recently, pointed out several problems and lapses observed during the inspection of more than 265 buildings regarding fire safety measures.
The situation is getting worse, and more reports will be given as new statistical data is gathered from credible sources and organizations.
