Karachi: Federal Parliamentary Secretary, Industries & Production Dr. Shahida Rahmani visited Pakistan Steel Mills on Thursday for taking updated status of revival of Pakistan Steel Mill and chaired important meeting.
The Chief executive Officer of Pakistan Steel Mills, Dr. Saifuddin Junejo apprised Parliamentary Secretary regarding present issues of Pakistan Steel Mill, its revival and steps taken its revival.
The CEO Pakistan Steel Mill, Dr. Saifuddin Junejo while briefing the Parliamentary Secretary informed that the existing strength of Pakistan Steel Mill is 3293 manpower, out of which 03 officers and 589 staff and workers are in security department. He further informed that 5282 staff has been retrenched from their jobs.
Dr. Shahida Rahmani chairing the meeting said that how unfortunate was to see the present situation of Pakistan Steel Mill; the situation would have been different if Rs. 20 billion requested by PSM had been provided in 1st stage in the Financial year 2009-10 for its revival. She further directed to increase the security of Pakistan Steel Mill and said that the security staff of 589 is insufficient to secure the area of 19000 acres land.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that the government is committed to reviving Pakistan Steel Mill as soon as possible and the companies of China have shown their interest and we are hopeful that Pakistan Steel Mill will start its production soon.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Steel Mill along with other management of the PSM.
