Karachi : Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi chaired performance review meeting of Federal Departments and Agencies at Ombudsman Secretariat Karachi on 22nd May 2024.
Representatives of K-Electric, SSGC, EOBI, NADRA, PAK PWD, CAA, Pakistan Post Office, Pakistan Railways, NEPRA, IB, FIA, PLIC, Immigration & Passport, HEC, FEB & GIF, Estate Office and OGRA attended the meeting. The meeting was aimed to ensure efficiency in service delivery and resolving public complaints.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi said that around 80 Federal departments/ agencies comes under the mandate of Federal Ombudsman whose performance is reviewed time to time.
He further said that last year more than 2 lac complaints have been resolved out of which 1.5 lacs pertained to overseas citizens. And most of the cases pertain to the bills of electricity, gas, passports and NADRA.
In response to a query, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi said that there have been around 24% increase in complaints which shows increased public trust in Ombudsman Office.
Addressing the media persons, Mr. Anwar Haider, Senior Advisor Federal Ombudsman Karachi, said that Federal Ombudsman karachi aims to redress the complaints within 60 days and that’s why the department has reached 70% implementation level on complaints. In last year around 12000 cases pertaining to Kesc and other utility departments were solved and due to enhanced public trusts the Karachi office is witnessing increasing in number of public complaints.
