H.E. Richard Lindsay said it is a great honour for me to visit to mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for paying my respects to him for his vision to create peaceful, prosper and inclusive Pakistan. United Kingdom and Pakistan are friends since 75 years ago and we have many aspects of cooperation. I convey my respect to the Great Leader’s vision and leadership from the bottom of my heart; we salute to him for creating a wonderful resilient nation. I reiterate Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s slogan “Unity, Faith, and Discipline” are really keys to success. He expressed these views during an excellent and fruitful her meeting towards progress for peace with Ambassador at Large for Global Peace, Interfaith harmony and Human rights Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) here in Karachi.
During the meeting, the ICPH chairman briefed the Head of Pakistan and operations Department, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office FCDO, United Kingdom with the ICPH Pakistan vision, mission, policy and performance on religious freedom and minority rights overall initiative towards climate change, peace, and harmony and human rights issues along with their solutions during this meeting. They also discussed Girl’s Education, Woman Empowerment, Sustainable and Cross Cultural Collaborations, Human Rights and Human Values, Climate Change and COP27, Interfaith Harmony, Youth Engagement towards empowerment, Minorities Rights and, religious freedom. The growing trends of Islamophobia in the west, and the effects in detail.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said that 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the UK. Pakistan and the UK maintain cordial relations rooted in history and shared legacy, which are reinforced by regular high-level interactions and strong people-to-people contacts. He lauded the role of the British Pakistani community in advancing Pakistan-UK relations and making constructive contribution to the progress and development of both countries. He particularly emphasized the significance of youth in shaping the contours of a futuristic relationship. The chairman Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) thanked to UK government for the support for flood victims. Great Britain response to this horrific and catastrophic flood is highly appreciated which proves UK is a close ally of Pakistan & been supporting us In times of crisis and need. Hopefully this close relation between these two states foster with times ahead. Healso appreciated the British high Commission Pakistan role in promoting cultural relations between the two countries.
Richard Lindsay, Head of Pakistan & operations Department said Britain stands with its friends in Pakistan in times of trouble. He said that the Britain will always continue to support Pakistan’s efforts to promote inter-faith harmony. He thanked the HE Richard Lindsay and said that ICPH Pakistan has always been vocal in protecting the rights of minorities in Pakistan around the world. H.E. Ewan Harris, Deputy Political Counsellor, and H.E. Martha, British Deputy High Commission, Karachi was also present on the occasion.
Britain gave £100 million in aid to flood victims. Seeking cooperation on resettlement of refugees, economic recovery, eradication of extremism, promotion of education. In the war against terrorism Pakistan there is a sense of loss of economy and sacrifice of 80 thousand lives. The UK remains unwavering in our commitment to protecting freedom of religion or belief. We must work together to implement the UN Plan of Action, to improve the safety of all FoRB for all. By promoting collaboration among FoRB and creative talent of the two countries, the (ICPH) aims to showcase the promise of Pakistan’s youthful human resource, as well as close relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Ambassador Allama Ahsan Siddiqui said that ICPH Pakistan values its relations with the UK and we earnestly look forward to enhancing mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests. Both the UK and ICPH Pakistan, he added, had agreed to work towards “enhancing intercultural and inter-faith dialogue and understanding to promote FoRB for all, tolerance and harmony, religious freedom, minority rights, peace, youth of Pakistan, the role of Government, culture of tolerance, current situation in Afghanistan and its effects on Pakistan in particular mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge, people-to-people contacts and education.
