Fashion Industry: Style Runway Season 18 Ends with Call for Greater Government Support

Fashion Industry leaders have urged the government to provide stronger policy support to help Pakistan’s creative sector expand exports, attract international markets and generate new employment opportunities.
The appeal came during the closing ceremony of Style Runway Fashion Show Season 18, held at Barzaan Banquet in Karachi, where leading fashion designers, jewellery experts and beauty professionals highlighted the industry’s growing contribution to Pakistan’s economy and global image.

Among those speaking at the event were designer Saleem Iqbal of Anamta Bridal, Razib Tabani of Junoon, designer Noman Saleem, Ahsan Ali of Rehber Collection, Junaid Iqbal of Image Jewellery and Hameeda Hamza of Hameeda Salon.
The speakers said Pakistan’s fashion, jewellery and beauty sectors have experienced significant growth in recent years, with local designers, jewellers and makeup artists earning international recognition for their creativity, craftsmanship and professional standards.
They noted that consumers increasingly value high-quality apparel, elegant jewellery and professional beauty services, making these industries an important part of Pakistan’s creative economy.
Industry representatives said fashion shows provide a vital platform for designers and professionals to present their latest collections, connect with audiences and strengthen the country’s presence in international fashion markets.
The participants stressed that greater government patronage, business-friendly policies and institutional support could help the fashion sector increase exports, attract foreign investment and create thousands of new jobs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Style Runway Fashion Show organiser and Chief Executive Zia Zafar said the event has been held successfully for 18 consecutive years. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Pakistan’s fashion industry globally while providing emerging and established designers with opportunities to showcase their talent on international platforms.
The organisers said they remain committed to strengthening Pakistan’s position in the global fashion landscape by encouraging innovation, creativity and collaboration across the industry.
