A viral video from Sadiqabad has sparked widespread concern by falsely alleging that dozens of children had their kidneys removed. However, fact-checking investigations have confirmed that the claims are completely unfounded.
The videos, which began circulating on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on June 2, 2025, showed several children lying on hospital cots with bandages on their abdomens. Accompanying posts claimed their kidneys had been removed under the guise of treatment for kidney stones.
Upon investigation—including reverse image searches—fact-checkers traced the footage to Tauheed Medical Complex in Sadiqabad. It was revealed that the incident involved 28 children who were subjected to unnecessary appendectomy surgeries, reportedly due to misdiagnoses, not organ theft.
These visuals had already been aired in a TV news report on May 31, 2025, which clearly stated that no evidence of organ trafficking was found. Instead, the case highlighted gross medical negligence.
As a result of the findings, the hospital has been sealed, and the matter has been handed over to the Punjab Healthcare Commission for further investigation and action.
Authorities have confirmed that the circulating claims of kidney theft are misleading, and the real issue lies in suspected malpractice—not organ removal.
