EU Reaffirms Strong Investment Appetite in Pakistan as EUPKBN Shares Survey Insights with Finance Minister

KARACHI: The European Union (EU), already recognised as the world’s largest single market, Pakistan’s biggest export destination, and the largest global source of outward foreign direct investment, has once again signalled strong interest in expanding its economic engagement with Pakistan.

The EU Pakistan Business Network (EUPKBN)—a platform representing more than 300 European companies operating across the country—held a productive meeting with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss the findings of a recent survey capturing the sentiments of EU businesses active in Pakistan.

According to the survey, an overwhelming 80 percent of European companies expressed readiness to increase their investments in Pakistan, provided that the government moves forward with essential structural and regulatory reforms. These include improvements in the business environment, consistency in economic policies, and transparent, predictable regulatory frameworks that can support long-term investment planning.

During the meeting, EUPKBN leadership highlighted the EU’s longstanding role in supporting Pakistan’s economic development. They stressed that European businesses remain committed to deepening their footprint in the country, especially in key sectors such as manufacturing, renewable energy, digital services, logistics, and sustainable development initiatives.

Minister Aurangzeb welcomed the survey results and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly climate. He noted that Pakistan views the EU as a vital economic partner and values its continued support through trade, investment, and capacity-building programmes.

The dialogue underscored the EU’s growing recognition of Pakistan’s economic potential and the importance of reforms that can unlock new avenues for investment, job creation, and enhanced bilateral trade.

As Pakistan seeks to strengthen its global economic partnerships, the positive sentiment from European companies—coupled with a renewed commitment to reforms—marks a significant step toward deeper EU–Pakistan economic cooperation.
