The dream of inclusive Pakistan is the motto of this government. The event kicked off with the start of documentary and how transgenders are discriminated in Pakistan. Shazia Marri, chairperson BISP said ” this is the beginning of pluralistic Pakistan. A marginalized group is given rights in the BISP income support program for the first time in the history of Pakistan”.
Further, in order to facilitate this community, Ms Shazia Marri mentioned that we have dropped the cut off criteria for eligibility in BISP for transgenders and all they need is registered CNIC.
Moreover, Mr Murtaza Wahab spoke on this occassion “Not only this, but transgenders will be given local body representation as well as promised by PPP. In addition to this, we have made changes in civil servants act and transgenders also have a quota allocated to them for representation”.
The event closed by encouraging remarks by transgender community that our voices have been heard and the promises made have been fulfilled.
