India: Hindu extremists attacked an Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India, causing damage and creating tension. Videos show a mob blocking the procession and throwing stones at participants. Although the event organizers had received official permission, local complaints led the authorities to change the procession’s route just hours before it began.
After discussions with the administration, a new route was decided. However, when extremists learned about this change, they blocked the road and stopped the procession. Police quickly arrived to control the situation and restore order.
In another incident, a video showed a Muslim youth being bullied for flying an Eid Milad-un-Nabi flag on his motorcycle. The extremists mistook it for a Pakistani flag. This attack on the religious celebration has raised concerns about safety and communal tensions in the area. Many are urging authorities to take action to protect all communities during religious events.
