Singapore: Head of MNED Engagement Unit OF International Labour Organization (ILO), Ms. Githa Roelans meets EFP delegation comprising of Zaki Ahmed Khan, Vice President, Employers’ Federation of Pakistan(EFP) and Fasihul Karim Siddiqi, Senior Advisor, EFP. The meeting took place on the side-lines of 17th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting(APRM) at Singapore.
Zaki Ahmed Khan apprised Ms. Githa on the activities undertaken by EFP as Focal point of MNED project in Pakistan during the last two years. The meeting also discussed EFPs strategic plan to promote MNED principles during the remaining tenure through a well-conceived way forward.
“The main feature of future promotion activities is to increase the outreach of MNED beyond the Sports good industry to also cover other industrial sectors’ such as automotive, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food and beverage as well as service sector. Other stipulated activities include Intensive media campaign, development of responsible practice case studies in MNED application, translation of MNED principles in local languages, training of managers, supervisors and workers in MNED principles for supply chain and SMEs. etc.”
Ms. Githa Roelans appreciated the way forward chalked out by EFP for promoting MNED principles in Pakistan and assured that she will look into the possibility of maximum technical support to EFP in implementing the action plan.
Later in the plenary session of the 17th APRM on MNED principles moderated by Ms. Githa, Zaki Ahmed Khan made a detailed intervention outlining a number of activities undertaken by EFP ever since its election as focal point by the tripartite stakeholders in 2021. It may be mentioned that Pakistan is among the few countries having a focal point for MNED in the ILO.
