Dy. CG of Japan appreciates PAPJ for a successful conduct of International Photo Exhibition.

Karachi, October 14, 2022: An International Photo Exhibition of Japan organized by Pakistan Association of Photojournalists, PAPJ, has concluded successfully on Thursday, October 13. From October 6 to 13, 2022, PAPJ organized this spectacular photo exhibition in collaboration with Japan Professional Photographic Society, Japan’s multi-publication daily Asahi Shimbun and Japanese Consulate in Karachi.

At the closing ceremony of the photo exhibition on Thursday, certificates of appreciation were given to the volunteers and others who collaborated and assisted PAPJ in organizing the exhibition. The volunteers included students from the architecture department of NED University, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Consul General of Japan in Karachi Mr. Ashida Katsunori appreciated PAPJ for a successful conduct of the International Photo Exhibition “Colours of the World”. He said that the extensive coverage of the exhibition in the media shows that there was a lot of publicity about the exhibition, due to which a large number of people, including students, came to the Japanese Consulate to see this photo exhibition.

Ashida expresses hope that the exhibition would be held in other cities of Pakistan as well so that more and more people could see it and benefit from the international standard of photographs.

The Founder of PAPJ and renowned photojournalist of Pakistan, Sir Zahid Hussain in a message to closing ceremony said that the PAPJ has played a key role during last about 15 years in promoting friendly relations between Pakistan and Japan and strengthening the collaboration between photojournalists of the two countries.

In this regard, he mentioned the numerous photo exhibitions organized by the PAPJ in Pakistan and Japan. “Pakistan Association of Photojournalists would play its role in strengthening the friendly relations between Pakistan and Japan, the land of the rising sun, and positive and constructive relations between the societies of the two countries in the future”. Zahid Hussain vowed.

Zahid Hussain paid tribute to the services and efforts of Senior Members of PAPJ Adeel Khan, eminent photojournalist Jahangir Khan, representative of the organization in Japan Photo/Video Journalist MOHAMMAD Zubair, Senior Member Muhammad Arshad, Senior Photo Journalist Faisal Mujeeb and others for successfully organizing the photo exhibition.

The legend Photo Journalist and founder of PAPJ expressed his gratitude to the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi, Consul General of Japan Odagiri Toshio, Deputy Consul General Ashida Katsunori, visiting former photojournalist of Asahi Shimbun Sakuma Yasuo, Chairman of Pakistan-Japan Business Forum Kalim Farooqui and volunteers from NED University.

“After Karachi, PAPJ plans to organize international exhibitions of other countries including Japan in different cities of the country very soon. In addition, PAPJ will organize a photo exhibition of Pakistan in Japan this year, for which preparations are underway”. He added.

He mentioned that in order to further develop the work of Pakistani photojournalists and enhance their professional capabilities, PAPJ will conduct continuous training workshops in the future, as did in the past, and more steps will be taken to expand the scope of work of Pakistani photojournalists.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Member of PAPJ and Photojournalist Adeel Khan said that Sir Zahid Hussain and other active members, as well as young volunteers played an important role in the successful conduct of the international photo exhibition.

He said that the lamp lit by late former President of PAPJ Mujibur Rahman and Founder Sir Zahid Hussain is more vibrant and bright even today. Adeel Khan paid tribute to senior photojournalist Jahangir Khan, Faysal Mujeeb of Dawn News, senior member Muhammad Arshad and photo/video journalist Mohammad Zubair for their tireless efforts in organizing this photo exhibition.

Adeel Khan expressed his gratitude to the Consul General of Japan in Karachi Mr. Odagiri Toshio, Deputy Consul General Mr. Ashida Katsunori, staff of the Japanese Consulate, Japanese photojournalist Sakuma Yasuo, Kalim Farooqui, Chairman of Pakistan Japan Business Forum, Azmat Ataka, Karachi Art Council and other personalities and institutions who supported in organizing the international photo exhibition. He said that without the sincerity and cooperation of all these personalities, it would not have been possible to organize a successful international photo exhibition.
